Vision Memo - V0

Rethinking human experiences

A note from our Founder,
Keyur Kumbhare

This is the first, or rather zeroth, version of this memo. There will be several versions ahead, following no particular cadence. The vision will not drastically change, which it rightly should not. But with each version, there will be more clarity, capital, maturity, and luck to exercise it. That should allow us to keep improving our velocity and impact as we move towards trying to build a better world.

Being human is an interesting phenomenon.

We are the most intelligent of all living species. We can imagine things that do not exist, build friendships, make memories, discover what we care about, create things, and spend years becoming exceptional at something. We can laugh, explore, change, contribute, and do work that feels like an extension of who we are.

But only a minuscule number of people ever get to live that way.

A lot of people are born into poverty and never get a fair chance. Many others manage to take care of their basic needs, but spend most of their waking hours doing work they dislike, around people who do not respect them, doing things that slowly drain the life out of them. They have intelligence, imagination, curiosity, and ambition, but very little freedom to use any of it the way they want.

That is a terrible waste of human potential.

Most of it comes down to luck. Whether your family could cover food, school, rent before you were old enough to earn any of it yourself, whether you stumbled onto work you actually cared about before you had to settle for whatever paid, none of that is something you earn. Effort matters, timing matters, so do the people around you, but underneath it all, luck is still the keyword.

With GrowedIn Group, I want us to try and manufacture more of that luck for as many people as possible. For talent, that means building a place where people are respected, encouraged to think independently, and proud of what they put into the world. For customers, that means building products and services that are thoughtful, useful, honestly sold, and capable of making everyday life meaningfully better.

Both should remain true regardless of how large we become, in revenue or headcount.

As the group evolves, these are the parts of our DNA that should stay intact.

01Respect

People should feel respected when they deal with us. That should be true for teammates, customers, candidates, vendors, and partners.

It should show up in how we speak, how clearly we communicate, how we disagree, how we give feedback, how we sell, and how we respond when something goes wrong.

02A better workplace

People spend close to half of their waking lives working. That is far too much time to spend somewhere that slowly drains the life out of them.

I want every company at GrowedIn Group to be a place where people grow, become more confident, find people they genuinely enjoy working with, and do work that means something to them. That does not mean the work will always be easy. It will be difficult, intense, frustrating, and exhausting at times. That comes with trying to build anything worthwhile.

But people should not have to lose their confidence, dignity, or sense of self in the process. We should be clear with people, give them room to think, recognise good work, and make sure the difficult parts help them grow rather than bring them down.

People should leave (if they ever do) more capable, more confident, and more themselves than when they joined.

03World-class products and services

We should build things that are genuinely good. Things that solve real problems, make some part of life or work better, and feel thoughtfully made from beginning to end.

That means caring about details, going deeper than what is expected, and not releasing something simply because it is good enough to sell. We should be proud to have our name on everything we put into the world.

And when the existing way of doing something is not good enough, we should be willing to question it, start again, and build something better.

04No mis-selling

We should only sell something when we genuinely believe it is right for the customer. We should not overstate what we can do, hide limitations, manufacture urgency, or make promises simply because they improve our chances of closing a deal.

There will be times when honesty costs us revenue. That is okay. We would rather lose a customer than win one through confusion, pressure, or misrepresentation.

05Credit

People should get credit for the work they helped shape. It should be recognised, reviewed, and rewarded frequently.

As companies grow, they stop acknowledging the people behind the work. That is not the right thing to do. Individual effort should not disappear into thin air.

06Identity

Work can be an important part of who someone is but should never become all of who they are.

People should still have their own opinions, taste, judgment, and way of doing things, and nobody needs to agree with any of it to work here. They should be able to build a name for themselves and become known for what they are good at.

This is, in many ways, an attempt to rethink human experiences: how people work, what they build, what they use, and how all of it adds up to a life. I want to spend the next few decades exploring what that can look like.
